Temptation

Ooooh I've got the urge to cast on....

Mom gave me some Fino Alpaca and Kidsilk Haze and a really want to cast on for Purity

I made one of these for Vineyard Alpacas this summer and I really want to make one for myself... Damn the Christmas knitting!
Sigh... back to Dad's chunky sweater...

Anti-progress

I'm not sure if I'm suffering from second sock syndrome, but I haven't cast on for Dave's second sock yet... I don't know why. It's not that I'm dreading doing the second sock, I just can't be bothered. I guess it's okay because I have several other Christmas projects I can work on. One is almost done too!

I also had to frog my knee sock. It wasn't going to be big enough around. So, instead of re-starting, I had a moment of practicality (those moments are few and far between) and tucked the yarn away in my studio where it won't haunt me until after the Christmas projects are done.

So, since I don't have any knitting to show you, I'll leave you with some cuteness...
I was de-cat-hairing the cushions and somebody decided to turn the couch into a fort.

Taaaadaaaa....

...one whole sock! That's half a Christmas present down. It looks so LARGE to me, but I had my Dad try it on and it's okay...

I really should be making the other one, but I raided mom's stash and came home with some Sockittome and well....
I'm designing my own knee sock... yeah I know I knit one (half) pair of socks and now I'm not only designing a sock, but a knee sock at that...
You can't see the pattern, but when it's done I'll post better pictures. But it won't be done for a while, I really have to get back to the Christmas knitting... including knitting the second sock.

I also got a present in the mail! To me from me (the best kind)
It's a merino/alpaca blend.... very soft... so it's off to Ravelry to browse patterns.. but -- must... not... cast.... on....

Sock it to me!

It's official.. I've turned my first heel...
After a small bit of frogging resulting from a pattern misread ( I turned the heel before I knit the heel whoops) I motored right along... I found working with the dpns was a lot easier once I got rid of the fifth one and started working with four.

Bad Seed

Peno..
...is my only good cat. The other two are pure evil and lately I think their evilness is leaking out into innocent little Miss Peno.

There are only two places in the house the cats are not allowed - Dave's studio and the kitchen counter (not my rules, cats are free spirits and they should be allowed to roam at will ... basically I can't be bothered to discipline them).

Dave's studio door is always closed, so it's pretty easy to keep them out of there, the counter... not so much.

It took months to break Tux of the habit of jumping on the counter (I mean... come on... that's where the good food is and he knows it) and just when it seemed like we had succeeded in detering him, I brought Rocky home and the process started again... and just because he was a kitten didn't make it any easier to train him.

But the other week I ran out of cat food, so I opened up a can of tuna for the kids' breakfast. I didn't use the the whole can, so I popped a plastic cat food can lid on it and went about my morning. I came back about an hour later, and Peno (the only good cat) was on the counter, had the lid off the can and had finished the rest of the tuna.

Ever since then, I've caught her on the counter at least once a day. And today I walked into the kitchen to discover this...
just making herself comfortable... she didn't even bother to jump off the counter and run away like she did something bad (like she normally does).

In other news, the back healing is going slowly... so I'm still making good progress on my Christmas knitting. Can I just say I hate knitting mittens... I don't know why, I just don't like them. I've made some good progress on another Christmas present, but I can't show you picture until after I've gifted it to her.

It all comes together....

Well despite having the week off, I didn't get as much accomplished as I had hoped... I slept off the pain a lot more than I thought I would. Now that's not to say I didn't get anything done.... I just didn't get anything finished.. part of the problem of having too many projects on the go at once.

I have made some progress on the socks, and I got a little Christmas knitting a little bit further. I did manage to finally mop my floors, which I've been meaning to do FOREVER.

And today, I did something I've left on the backburner for waaaaaaaaaay too long...
I sewed Dave's quilt top together. Now all I need is some sashing, some batting, and sew it all together! I'm quite pleased with this, and love how the colours go together.
