Since I had a couple empty project boxes and the scrap strip box was over flowing...
It was time to start building some cabins. This is more of a long-term project. I don't have enough scraps for a whole quilt yet, but I plan to make a few cabins a week. The scrap box will get replenished as I make other quilts, and be depleted as I make more cabins.
I've managed four so far. I'm doing each one with neutrals on one side, and one colour on the other. They are just over 8 inches square when finished, so it's going to be one scraptacular rainbow quilt when it's done!
Great idea to make them as the scraps pile up. It will be so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat's just how Daddio and I ended up with his amazing Christmas Cabin quilt that I finished last year. It was very fun to quilt because no matter what you did to it, it looked great.
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I am saving my scraps from this year's projects to use in a quilt. I am thinking 2.5" squares right now, but haven't cut any yet. I like the log cabin idea too.
ReplyDeleteYou have some really cute fabrics in your scrap bins!
ReplyDeleteYou've seen antique quilts made from cigar ribbons? That's why quilts were made; to use up scrap material; the frugality of it makes so much sense.
ReplyDeleteLove the cute little rabbit face in the one!
ReplyDeleteSo far so lovely!!!! Great start
ReplyDeleteThe log cabin scrap quilt is a winner! You will enjoy adding to it after each project-kinda like the scrap sock yarn blankets!
ReplyDeleteI love all the mixed up colors. They are my favorite kinds of quilts.
