We interrupt this hoodie...

... for a very important knit.

I finshed the hood on Lore last night, so all I have left are the bands and finishing - but I've set it aside for now.

I have some very serious shawl knitting to do.
Yesterday, a coworker informed us that she's just been diagnosed with bone cancer. She start chemo next week, so I thought a shawl would be a nice way to keep her warm and let her know we are all thinking of her as she fights her battle.

She says they caught it early, and the doctors are very optimistic, so that's definitely a good thing - but still scary to go through.

I'm knitting this in some Dale of Norway Svale, which I liberated from Mom's stash last year. There wasn't enough of it to make a sweater, so this seems like the perfect use. It's a DK (so warm and quick!) cotton/silk/viscose blend. It's one of the splitty-est yarns I've ever worked with. But, the silk makes it so soft and gives it beautiful drape, so I'm willing to forgive it.

The pattern I'm using is Frozen Leaves. I want to get this to her by the end of the week, and I know this is a pattern that's not only beautiful - but is an easy knit for me (this is my fourth one...)

Oh - and it took until January 13 - but we finally got a significant snowfall.
Of course, it's suppose to warm up and rain by Monday, and wash this all away - but for now I'm enjoying it. From the warmth and comfort of my living room of course!

That sounds like a very important project to interrupt your hoodie for! Hopefully everything goes well for your co-worker's treatment; a beautiful warm shawl can't hurt! And aren't hospital waiting rooms and treatment clinics always freezing cold?

I am sure your beautiful shawl will give her some of the warmth and comfort that she will need during chemo. I do hope that she goes well with her treatment for the cancer. The snow is looking very pretty.

Best wishes to your co-worker. I know that beautiful shawl will be a great comfort to her.

For some reason treatment rooms are always so COLD!!!! I know she'll love wrapping up in a bit of knitty-love.

Well worth interrupting the hoodie for! We got our first real snowstorm here on Thursday, it warmed up and turned to rain and was +10C on Friday (kids got a storm day, though, because of the road conditions), so our snow is gone. A few little piles left from snow plows, that's it.

We finally got snow recently. As much as I say I hate it ... it felt so weird without it this time of year. And though I too am enjoying it from INSIDE, I do like that it is out there.

The BEST and WORSE reason to interrupt Lore. And amazing that you will be able to get it to her so quickly.
