Fright Night - all soggy

Hallowe'en has come and gone... and it was a soggy one! I got in about 7 p.m. and scrambled to get my pumpkins lit...
I love how they look with candles.
I filled my cauldron full of sweets, and Rocky and I settled down to wait for the ghouls and goblins. (Yes, that's my knitting bag under my broom handle, what else is a witch to do while she's waiting?).
All tolled, I only got about eight kids. After speaking to the neighbour, I learned that most of them came before I got home - but he said there wasn't as many as there usually is - the rain must have kept them away
I did get a visit from another sort of creature. This poor little guy was absolutely soaked, so I gave him some treats and a few scritches, but Tux soon chased him off.

And now the pumpkins have been blown out, and the cauldron packed up. Time for a hot chocolate - and Jack the Pumpkin King!

We weren't home this year. It's a gym night.

BUT, we drove through Baldwin Park (a planned community in Orlando) to get home and it was CRAZY!!! I've never seen so many people in costumes in one place! Driving was a challenge. Most of them seemed to be mid-teen to young adult. Thousands! Swarming! Loud! But, seemed to be having fun.

Uh oh ... leftover candy. That's the worst!

We had more than 40 kids. Gavin wore his Iron Man t-shirt - the one with the arc reactor that lights up when sound activated - and the kids went crazy for it! I was just happy it was him running to the door every minute or two :)

I was home the entire night from 5:15 on. I only got 32 kids, that's the lowest I've ever had. I usually get at least 50. The house I owned before was in an area of town called the prefabs. I used to get over 200! All I could afford to hand out was suckers, gum, and Rocket candy, lol. Now I do chips/cheesies and treat bags with a chocolate bar and other candies in it.
