Sticky

Well after weeks of cooler temperatures, we are finally getting some real summer weather... it's hot, sticky and I hate it! I was quite enjoying the cooler days... but it is August after all, so I guess I just have to suck it up.

One of the good things about this sticky weather is it's perfect for making awesome thunder storms.

We had an incredible one last night. It knocked the power out for about five hours, but no fear.... when a girl is well equipped with lots of candles, a bottle of wine and a gorgeous boyfriend, it's easy to weather the storm ;)

The cats have their own way of waiting out the heat wave...Of course the house is air conditioned so it's not so much cooling off as it is laying around fatting out.

There's not a whole lot of action on the knitting front. I've completed the fifth row of the sockghan and started on the six (up to a whole nine inches long!). I did one more square on my on my fan shawl. But what's really taken my attention when I've had the time to knit is this:
A new ankle sock.

Many of the balls that Jeanne (thank you again!) sent me for my sockghan were quite large. This one was the largest... and I couldn't resist measuring it up to see how much was there. It was 230 yards... enough for a pair of ankle socks (I have small feet) and a couple of sockghan squares! If you follow Jeanne's blog you'll recognize this as the Wollmeise she knit her Ishbel shawl in. The colours are nice and rich and even prettier in person!

I have tentatively named the pattern "Blueberry Hill" and will post it on Ravelry as soon as the socks are done (probably within a couple of weeks.)

And finally, Mom and I have a whole shipment of undyed yarn sitting in her dining room, so keep your eye on the blog and the shop... new yarns are coming soon!

Its been hot here too this week - terrible. And my cats are handling it the same way as yours are...

I'm so glad you are using the rest of the Wollmeise - great idea to make ankle socks!

Can't wait to see the shop update...

I love the Wollmeise! Pretty colours.

Just keep reminding yourself it's August and the end is in site. That's my daily mantra.

My cats will also be happy to see the end of summer. It's too hot for them to be indoors, which means less attention for them. Sept. here we come!

I know that you buy yarn from ebay once in awhile. I was wondering how do you know what to buy and what to overlook. I buy lots of things like knitting needles and other stuff, but I was wondering how to tell whether its a good buy or not.

Ooh, gorgeous! I love those colors... Our weather's slowly heating up, too -- September and October are going to be terrible, I can feel it already. Ah, well...
