A Year of Knitting Selfishly

As I read other people's blogs, it seems I'm not the only one who had a tough time of 2010. Saturn must have been in conjunction with something.... he's a rat bastard that Saturn. I'm glad my ruling planet is Jupiter - he's king of the gods... and it's good to be the king! But I digress, I wanted to share 2011's knitting goals with you.

As the title suggests - this year is going to be all about me! I'm going to knit what I want, when I want. No challenges, no deadlines, no pressures. The only Ravelry "thing" I'm joining is the Year of the Cat (of course). But there's no pressure there either - If I get something done, I do - if I don't no biggie (I won't be winning prizes.)

The only thing I'm going to try to keep under control is my WIPs. I'm thinking no more than 5 at a time (not including the crackghans)

So, speaking of WIPs... here are two I've recently cast onThis is a modified Lumi in the Mini Mochi I bought for my birthday. I did start making socks with this yarn, but the single ply was too much of a pain on tiny needles... so a shawl it is (I thought I was all shawled out after the 2010 challenge, but apparently not....)

And, since I did really want to knit some socks...These are the Black Rose Socks knit in our new Jungle Cat! I am loving this yarn (colourway is Nana's Brooch).

So yeah... this year is all about me (at least knitwise) I think it's about time!

I have to admit, I like knitting for myself best of all. ;-)

Hey! That colourway looks a lot like Misty Highlands!

I agree with some no stress knitting for 2011. Or at least for January and possibly February!

Love the shawl and socks. 5 wips? I have way more than that now. LOL

My ruling planet is Venus.

When I stopped taking "orders" for knitting from people it made me a lot happier about knitting. I still knit for other people, but only if I feel like it, not because they've requested it. My dad did hint at a pair of slippers ... actually he asked me if he can felt his acrylic ones because they're baggy. LOL He'll get new slippers.

Nothing wrong with that ! Who deserves their hand knits more than the knitter her/himself . Do what makes you happy !

Good for you!! I knit for myself more than anyone else (I also appreciate my own knits more than anyone else, which could be part of the reason). I admit that the latter half of 2010 wasn't too bad for me, but I think that's because AY 2009-2010 sucked SO very badly, that nothing could be quite so bad by comparison...
