Wintry

Our snowstorm did indeed hit. Though Dave braved the roads and headed into work, I stuck around the house. Most of the day was spent on long-overdue chores. I did brave the snow to top up the bird feeder. I asked Tux to come outside with me...
"Umm... I think Im good right here."
That's as far as he got.

We did a little bird-watching from the warmth of the couch. But it's hard to get any decent pictures.
There were actually three cardinals hanging out - two males and a female. They look so pretty out in the snow.

I did managed to get some knitting in....
The Cruiser mitts are finished. And with the Antler Hat, that rounds out the present for Dave's 10-year-old cousin. Another one off the list!

The pattern was a freebie - and very well written. I added a little length to the cuff, but otherwise, knit it as written. Were I to knit it again - I would change one other thing. The thumb doesn't have an increased gusset - just a waste yarn marker where you pick up stitches. I prefer a proper thumb gusset for a better fit.

These were knit in Fat Cat (colour is Cloudy), so they'll be nice and warm for tobogganing. We certainly have the snow for it now... let's hope it sticks around for Christmas!

If the weather is decent tomorrow, I'll be heading up to the studio to dye some more yarn. In the mean time, you can get some for yourself - there's free shipping all weekend in honour of my birthday. Use the code HAPPYBDAY.

Does Tux's leg problem slow him down any?

I love cardinals. Even if you live in a place where there is no snow, they are STILL beautiful.

My cat Finn is rather disgruntled about our cold and snow. Asks to go out, then balks, then viciously attacks his cat toys. Time to hibernate!

We got snow here, too, very nasty. Early afternoon it changed to ice pellets, freezing rain, then rain. But tonight it's going to get cold again, so it will turn into a skating rink, like it usually does. It's supposed to snow again on Wednesday but then be +8 and +9 on Friday and Saturday, and the long range forecast for Saturday is rain.

I made that mitten pattern before. I have a pair of them in my bag that I keep in the car for cold hockey rinks.

I am in snow withdrawal. The storm dumped rain here on top of the little dusting we had so now it's all gone. We are headed for a warm spell so I guess it won't be a white Christmas again this year. Darn jet stream. :(

And, yet another pattern I've added to my queue. :) They look gorgeous! (Though I'm with you on the thumb gusset- I have very wide hands, and a thumb gusset is absolutely required.)
