About Our Yarns

Now that things in the yarn studio are up and running I thought now would be a good time to share a little information about our yarns.

After some experimentation, we've settled on some beautiful base yarns.

They are:

Alley Cat Sock: This is our basic sock yarn - but it's anything but basic. It's a 75/25 blend of superwash merino and nylon for strength. I'd say it has a nice medium twist (just enough squoosh) but the thing that really got us was how it feels. This stuff is nice and soft. Perfect for cozy socks and shawls.

Slinky Cat Lace:
Another beautiful base yarn. An 80/20 blend of extra fine merino (no itch) and silk. Soft, with just a hint of sheen from the silk. Perfect for shawls, scarves and other fine lace projects.

Fluffy Cat Fingering: I was insistent on getting this for the shop (it's not up yet but it will be soon). If you've been reading the blog, you'll know how I feel about touch. I like soft, silky things and this yarn is pretty much the epitome of soft and silky. It's 70/20/10 blend of baby alpaca (that's the soft), silk (we all know how I feel about silk) and cashmere (even MORE soft). I can't keep my hand off this stuff! Use it for shawls, lighter projects, and yes.. even socks... very luxurious socks.

We also have some DK Superwash Merino, and a line on some Merino/Cashmere/Nylon sock yarn. I'll have details on them in the future.

The yarns will be obviously labeled in the shop... but there are some other yarns there. They are what I'd call Limited Editions - different base yarns we've tried, and some stuff we just can't get our hands on any more. The Cashmere lace and Alpaca/Merino that are up there now are an example. We can't get those yarns anymore, so once they are gone - they are gone.

You can also become a fan of us on Facebook (pleeeeeeeeeeeease be our fan.. it makes me feel good - see sidebar and clicky) and our yarns are now on ravelry, so if you make a project you can link to us!

I am trying very hard to resist what's in your shop - I've spent my yarn budget for the month, but I keep on looking at it. The silk/alapaca/cashmere sounds amazing!
