Sorry for the extended silence - it's a been a little hectic at Chez Wanderingcat.
But I do have some knitting news to reports, so let's dive right in, shall we?
I think you all are far more optimistic about my chances of finishing Fable than I am. This week I've managed to complete six rows on it. Yep... six. Well maybe September is a more realistic goal.
At the moment, it's brooding in a corner, neglected. Any time I have spared to knit this weekend has been given over to a garment of my own creation.
You may remember that just a short time ago, this particular skein of Slinky, along with its matching beads, was being knit into the Heart to Heart scarf. Well as pretty as that scarf is, I quickly fell out of love with it - nothing wrong with the pattern - I'm just not that into it.
So it got frogged. But I still wanted to take part in the bead-a-long, so I am now using it for a new shawl design - which features beads! Yay. It's slow going - large cast on, lots of beads - but I think you're really going to like the end result.
I'm hoping to finish this one by the end of the month, but I won't lie - it's competing with something else for my attention. No - not Rocky - adorable as he is, we've worked out a pretty good system - he sits in my lap when I knit - all is well.
Nope. It's the book he's so comfortably perched on. My favourite author - Mr. George R. R. Martin has FINALLY released the fifth book in his incredible Ice and Fire series. (He's the creator of the character Danaerys). Dad and I have been waiting seven years for this book - yes - SEVEN. Sadly there is still at least one more book in the series (which I heard was only suppose to be three books long). I hope he doesn't keep us waiting another seven years.
Anyway, I have to get this read quickly - Dad is waiting for his turn - and of course, my knitting is waiting too!

Luckily I just started that series recently when suggested by a coworker (and I have your Danaerys pattern, its in my long, long queue). So I am still working my way up to book 5! Glad you're still in the BAL - as you know I had the same problem with my project, LOL!! Looks like Rocky is enjoying book 5!
Sine I've got my iPad I've been reading free books from Amazon.com but there's not much left what I want to read. I even bought a couple of books, and now I'm looking for books to read others found good. I have to look up this author. I normally like Murder Mysteries most, but I've read most of what's in our library , no kidding!
I can't wait to see what you knit up here. Is it a shawl or a scarf?
Fortunately I hadn't even heard of the series until about 2 months ago. I've now listened to the first three and am a little miffed that he killed off some of my favourite characters, so I'm wondering if I should go on with it at all. If I do, it will continue to be in audio book form though because I don't think I could even hold that book up long enough to read more then a couple of pages at a time! Besides, I can listen and knit at the same time :0)
Oh, and I'd heard there would be 7 books in total. That would be another two he could split into three parters...
I love the color of that yarn. And that is exactly what my books look like covered in cat...
I'm nearing the end of the 4th book. Maybe I should wait a while to start the 5th, just in case it has to last me 7 years?
I haven't read that series yet, though I've read a good deal of Martin's early work. I expect I'll get to it eventually...once I've dealt with the 200+ books on my to-be-read shelf! (It would go faster if I'd stop going to the library for a while...)
