One version of the pattern is actually striped - and I think with the right colour combo, it could be a sophisticated little knit. Alas, I'm working with what I have, so boring blue flecks it is.
Now - I'm off to cast on for another one. I'm going through my patterns again, to see if I can find something just a little bit more exciting and stylish.
But first - some pie

Mmmmm...that pie looks super yummy!
And as for that sweater, everything looks cute with a baby in it!
Boring? I was just thinking it's really cute with those blue flecks! Plus, not everything a baby wears needs to be excessively cute and aren't most of our favourite comfort clothes the plain ones?
Yumm! Lemon Meringue! I've never done those peaks before, I'll have to try that next time. Last Christmas I came out of my vacation trailer home in the back yard of my aunt's house one morning to find a lemon on the tree with the word PIE written on it in black marker. I took the hint, we had lemon meringue that day :0) That will probably become tradition now. This one shall have peaks.
Congratulations on both accomplishments! I love the brown spikes on your cake!
I think it's very cute, and will be even spiffier with the buttons and detailing! As for jazzing up plain patterns--have you considered colorwork? A little pattern row to ornament the hem, sleeves, and yoke always make me more interested in a knit.
I think the baby sweater is perfect , not boring at all ! Congratulations on getting it done ...
