June Garden Check In

I had a few seedlings that got started a little late - Sweet Peas, Echinacea, Columbine and Poppies. Today was time to get them in the garden, but I'm not sure how they will fare. I'm not sure if this whole "start from seed" thing has been a success - of all the sunflowers I planted, only three or four are thriving. The Black Eyed Susans are toast, and the squirrel dumped my Lavender. The Cat Nip is faring well though.

We'll see how it goes, but I think garden centre plants may be the way to go in the future. All of those plants are doing well. The tomatoes tripled in size while I was in Chicago
All except for one.
It's gotten more robust, but not any taller.

The Jalapenos seem to be faring well and the Strawberries I bought this year look great. Sadly, the ones from last year did not survive the rabbits.

The Rose bush is ready to burst so expect pictures any day now.

Out front the gardens are filling in nicely. I planted some Moon Flower seeds and they are just starting to sprout - I'm hoping they grow up the tree trunk.

What ever grows and thrives, after our cold winter, I'm just happy to be outside.
 And Tux agrees!

We started our peppers from seed this year. It took a long time for them to get going, but I think we've finally reached a level of success.

Hope your garden continues to grow. I'm sure the cats are happy the nip is doing well.

The only vegetables Mike plants from seed are beans and sugar snap peas . He's been pretty successful with those , the others not so much . The rest we get from the garden centres .

Love the photo of Tux , he is such a handsome fella !

It appears that Tux is keeping a close eye on all the new growth.
