We be jammin'

Yep - today was jam-making day. I was up at Mom's early  to turn all these luscious berries into something we can enjoy all year-round.

Jam-making is surprisingly easy. There's very few ingredients and the recipe is very straightforward. What is does take is some prep work  hulling and mashing all the berries (Mom did all that before I even got there!) - and stirring...
Lots and lots of stirring.
Delicious-smelling stirring.

But it went surprisingly quick. In no time, there were eight jars of jam all ready for me to bring home.
And all that was left was clean-up...
Delicious clean-up!

(And Mom is almost done her treatment - hard to see it in the picture, but her hair is starting to come back!)

Yay for Mom!
I really need to put up some jam.
There is nothing better on a cold morning than handmade jam on toast. As soon as I can get a bargain on some fruit, I'll be jamming too. I've certainly got plenty of jars for it.

Glad the treatment is almost done and hope it's been successful! Been a couple of years since I last did jam, might have a go this coming year cos even though there is a jam brand here almost as good; it's still not the same

Woo, hoo! Hair!!! Tell your mom it may come in a bit weird at first, but don't despair. She's got all the worst bits of treatment behind her! I'm so happy for you both...it's been a long, difficult time since her diagnosis, I'm sure. Hope we see you both in NY in August. Kathy :o)

I can see her hair coming back!! Yay! I made strawberry freezer jam one time. It was easy, and I used to like to put it on ice cream.
