Kitten time

As promised, here's a little more on our newest addition...
For those wondering, he's named after one of our favourite creative geniuses...
The very talented Tim Burton.
Like his namesake, he's got quite the mass of hair. At this point, it's hard to tell if he will be a true long-hair or more of a medium hair. His tail isn't overly fluffy, but he's got some pretty fantastic ear tufts.  I guess we'll have to wait until he grows to see how it goes.
Same with speculation about his size. Right now, he's about half the size (or a little less) of Rupert - who's a very small cat. But take a look at those paws... It will be interesting to see how big he gets.

He's also a talker. Not quite as much a Ru, but he's definitely got a (little) voice. He uses it mostly when I'm out of his line of sight and he's trying to find me, or when he wants a cuddle and I'm doing something else.
He's ridiculously cute. Which is good for him, because I admit, I'd completely forgotten what it's like to have a small kitten. Rupert was already 8 months when he was adopted, and he was so scared, he didn't get up to much trouble.
Burt, however, has no fear. We're currently trying to establish that the garbage cupboard is off limits, as is Grandma's table. The Jade tree is not a scratching post, the corn plant is not a dirt bath, and human drinks are not on offer to cats. And...
Knitting is absolutely not there for his amusement.  Loud clapping doesn't scare him like Ru, so we've got the spray bottle full and waiting.

Still...
I don't want him to grow up too fast...

What a sweet munchkin! You are very good with your camera. I hear black cats are hard to photograph but you did an amazing job!He sure loves looking at the camera!

That's how I am over at Daughter's when I am kitty sitting her monster cats. Mine, being semi feral are very skittish and keep their distance. Hers want to either sit on or grab at my knitting and everything else I am trying to do. Makes me appreciate my weirdo cats.

Ahhh, what a sweetie. And his paws ARE BIG!!! Good luck with the training - never easy with a kitten.

Time to get the wand toys out and wear him out! I love how kittens play hard and are fast asleep in a second . Such babies.

All of our cats just had to grow out of attacking knitting (hopefully Jack will too at some point). Water, loud noise, clapping - they just ignored it.

Oh he is so stinkin' cute! Give him a kiss from me.

He is a sweet bebe! Am not a fan of water bottle squirts, but loud noise like coins in a can...thrown away from you AND him, worked for our kittens. Also, we put aluminum foil on the counter/table to convince them it wasn't a place to go for kitties AND gave them a cat climb nearby. You can use carpet runner, turned upside down, too...they don't like the nubs on their paws! After awhile, you won't need it anymore.

Well he's definately got cute working for him that's for sure. That always makes establishing rules that much harder.....ask me how I know this. LOL Kittens are soooo much fun!!
