We were up visiting Mom and Dad to celebrate their milestone yesterday, so I took the opportunity to get some finished shots of Crimson Blossom
I really am so pleased with the result. Normally, I tend to get bored with rectangle shawls and scarves, but this one wasn't too bad. I think it was the neat construction. You start in the centre of the flower, working in the round and work your way out. Once that is complete, you work one side at a time.
After working around all the stitches of the centre, going down to just one quarter for each side makes it feel like it's really moving.
While it looks really complicated, it's not bad. It's definitely not the hardest shawl I've done. It's not ideal for new lace knitters, but Romi's patterns are very well written and if you've got a couple lace shawls under your belt, you'd be able to tackle this one.
It's a good size, though if I' were making it for myself, I'd make it a little longer - easy enough to do, just add a couple extra repeats to each side.
It used about a skein and a half of Slinky Cat (in Yellow Brick Road). Although the pattern didn't call for it, I added beads. They are hard to see in the pictures, but they add a nice touch of sparkle, and just a bit of weight.
I'm not in the office all week (enjoying a bit of vacation this week), so I'll gift it to my coworker next Monday. I hope she loves it as much as I do.

Omg! It's every bit as gorgeous as I thought it would be! That's one lucky co-worker!
Gorgeous! What's not to love?
She's going to go crazy over the new shawl! It is stunning and I am impressed with your speed because I fall apart in the boredom of 'wide scarves'! lol
So pretty! It looks Asian to me, as far as the design. I think it's one of those "fancy" looking things that you would end up reaching for a lot.
Valerie, so beautiful! Your co-worker will be so pleased.
Have a wonderful vacation!
