Ups and downs

Up.
After almost 10 years, Dave and I have finally decided to make a public declaration of our commitment to each other. I booked a pretty little venue by the lake for the ceremony
And today I put a deposit on the hall down the road for the reception. The date is September 29 - the countdown is on!

Down.
After doing some running around with Mom, I stopped in to cake up my skeins for Colour Infection. Since two were just part skeins, mom suggested I use the yarn counter too... and sure enough - I don't have enough for the shawl. I thought I had much more than I do. So it's back to the drawing board.

Up.
I've gotten to 11 inches on my Slinky vest!

Down.
I've decided I want to make it 13 inches. So it's back to the needles for me. Hopefully I'll have blocking pictures to show you tomorrow!

Congratulations on your pending ceremony. It took us 6 years from our first date to our wedding, have never regretted taking that step though.

OMG- you are getting married! Are you going to knit yourself a wedding shawl, or is your mom? How exciting! I had one child, and a half, when I got married. ;o)

Congratulations on booking your venue. Are you going to knit yourself a shawl to wear. Pity you dont have enough yarn for your other project.

A wedding!!! How exciting! As a former wedding blogger (Mother of the Bridezilla), I can't even begin to tell you how much fun the next few months will be. Take the time to enjoy them-it all goes too fast.

Big time congrats! Sounds like it's going to be a fabulous day. My fingers are crossed for perfect fall shawl-wearing weather :)

Sounds lovely! My husband and I did much the same thing- we'd been together 8 years before we married. And we made a deliberate decision to not do any of the traditional things that really annoyed us. (I highly recommend this.)

Hope you and all the people you invite to celebrate with you have a marvelous time!
