Last of the small game hunters....

It took a little patience, and a lot of luck but...
I was finally able to snap a pic or two of the elusive Cabbage White butterfly. Elusive in the sense that they move too fast, but at any given time there are two or three in the yard. They certainly aren't rare!

Getting him in flight was harder, but I got a few decent shots. As you can see, his wings are a little ragged, which I why I think I was able to get any pictures at all.
He was a lot more restive than they usually are.

But the garden isn't all butterflies and moths... it amazes me just how much diversity is out there in this miniature world. And makes me wonder how much more I am missing. Here's a look at a few of our latest visitors
A stalwart Red Soldier Beetle
This perky banded long-horn beetle
These Box Elder beetles are a common sight.
Though this long-legged Assassin bug is a new visitor (just look at those legs!)
And this fellow made me do a double take....because that's no bee! (Or wasp or hornet)
That's a fly!!!! A hover fly to be exact!

What a wonderful world we inhabit.

That's just completely amazing that you could find all those bugs and get them to sit still long enough for a portrait. Well done you!
