A fond farewell

If you've been hanging around the blog for the last few years, you know my love Old Navy, especially their Fit and Flare Cami dresses. But sadly, I'm going to have to say goodbye. At least for this year.

It's nothing they've done (other than one cranky associate two years ago, I've always had a decent shopping experience). It's me. 2017 is the year I REALLY want to get my finances in order. And late last week, I was cleaning the bedroom and reorganizing my closet. Within in minutes, it was apparent that the last thing I need is more clothing (or shoes!) Despite a good cleanout last year, my drawers and closets (yes, more than one) are still overflowing. So... it really is the easiest place to cut get the budget in line.

That is.... after one last fling with my favourite fashion retailer, of course. (I had SuperCash to use up... you can't just throw away money like that...)

So this lovely shirt dress is on its way to me...
I have a couple shirt dresses and I love them for my work-from-home days. They are just as comfy as pajamas, but I still feel "dressed" and "professional" and I don't forget to brush my teeth because I've been lazily lounging in my jammies all day. (I can also answer the door without shame).

And this pretty spring frock
Is a midi version of my favourite Fit an Flare dress. And in such a lovely floral print.

I've got cardigans in red, and yellow, and green... but I think I might need one in blue... don't you? But I'll have to make it myself, because no more clothes shopping! I'm on a clothes diet!

Those two dresses are lovely.

Clothes diet .............you can do it!

Just remember, it's NOT forever. And think how SMART you will feel when you actually wear ALL the things in your closet because you love them AND they are already there.

Good choices! Looking at me you might think I was homeless but my closets are overflowing also. I really need to downsize. I don't buy a lot. I just can't throw anything away.

Cute choices! I do love Old Navy clothes, but since I'm 5'10", the dresses are often too short for me...unless I wear with tights and boots or leggings (which isn't a good summer option - lol).

Yikes. That doesn't sound like fun at all. Thank goodness you're getting one last fling....! Love that shirt dress!

Good for you. money diets, yarn diets, food diets. All require self control and awareness. you are already aware so hooray for you. And yes you need a blue cardigan

I especially love that second dress! I used to own one like that in college, and I adored it and wore it constantly. Nice to see that such things are making a comeback. Can't wait to see what you knit to go with it.

Love the two dresses you picked out. I prefer longer dresses and those two are perfect. It is surprising how quickly clothes can accumulate.
Have a good evening.

With my recent surgery, and while on meds, I lost weight, so new pants are being added to my wardrobe. And whenever I find cheap button front shirts I buy them. Flannel, cotton, it matters not. Anything big and roomy! I feel like I've relapsed into the 80's! Leggings and big shirts.

Along with my self imposed yarn diet I am on a clothing diet too. I have gone through my closet many times and need to go through it again. I have given away many pairs of shoes, and am only allowing myself silver flip flops if I find them. Good for you with the new clothes, and then the purchase ban.

It seems to be the thing this year to go on yarn/clothing etc diets. I'm on a yarn/fibre/clothing/fabric etc diet. I did buy a pattern today for a dress that's very 1940's vibe. Just hope I have suitable fabric since I can't buy any!
