FO: Nutkin socks

February First and I've got a Fabulous FO... looks like this post is brought to you by the letter F!

Alliteration aside... I give you my Cheshire Nutkins!
Nutkin is a pattern I've knit a few times. It's fun. It's fast (there's those darn Fs again!) and I've knit  it in both multis and semi-solids, in which it looks great. So this time around I wanted to see what it would look like in stripe.
As you can see, it make the stripe a little gnarly(which is cool), but unless you're up close, it obscures the sharp swirl that makes Nutkin so appealing. So while I don't regret knitting it in a stripey yarn... I do prefer it in something less busy.
This pair was knit in Top Cat (our fabulous Merino/Cashmere/Nylon blend). The colourway is "Cheshire"  and I had a coordinating grey skein of cuff, heel and toe. The Top Cat super soft and a pleasure to knit with (and wear!). I was enjoying it so much, that I actually knit the leg of the second sock one repeat longer than the first. I was well past the heel when I noticed... there was no way I was ripping back. The socks are for me, and it's not like I'm going to complain!

Now... I've already got another pair on the needles and ready for the commute. But more on that tomorrow.

There is nothing like homemade socks in the winter! You did a beautiful job on them.

The color combination is fabulous and I do love the "gnarly" aspect of the socks. I am definitely going to try this pattern (maybe with I Wanna be a Cowboy??!!??).

Love your Nutkin finish. I can't see the extra repeat and I wont' bother looking because they look AMAZING to me. Love the stripes effect.

Very cool pattern and yarn combo! I like that you left the leg longer-that's how I roll when it's for me, too!

Love them!! I adore the striping effect. Makes the stripe look like ribbon folding one way and the other.
