A wee surprise

I was out filling up the bird feeder yesterday, when I decided to check on the last couple of peppers still trying to grow in the garden.

I looked down at my feet where the strawberries were, awaiting their winter insulation (which will be going on soon!) and noticed a suspicious amount of red!
We've had a couple of warmer days this week, and I guess it was just enough to give these little guys some colour. I do have to say though, it's strange eating fresh strawberries in September!

Strange, but wonderful! They look pretty yummy.

The first of Steve's scorpion peppers is just starting to *color-up*. We should have harvest some time next week.

They have new varieties now that fruit until that first killer frost and I have to say, I LOVE eating local strawberries at this time of year! Such a treat.

A couple of years ago, I planted "everbearing" strawberries, which are supposed to produce a fall crop, but I have yet to see any. You are lucky!
