Going Solo

This is a knitting post, I promise (you can scroll down and skip to it if you want) - I just can't resist showing off my sunflowers - they just make me so happy! This is the view my neighbour gets.
That fence is just over five feet high - such tall proud beauties! This is the view from my side.
At least that's how it looked last night. We got a burst of really hot humid weather and I don't think the sunflowers are liking it. When I got up this morning, I noticed the leaves were looking a little wilty. And after a full day of hot sticky weather...

She's not looking too good. I watered her last night, and we had a decent storm roll through this morning - the ground is still damp, so I know it's not lack of water. I'm hoping it's just the heat, which is suppose to break tomorrow. If she doesn't perk up, I'll go and cut the flowers and bring them inside... see if they fare any better in a vase.

And here's an idea of how hot and sticky it is...
Poor bunbun all stretched out in the cool grass, looking for a breeze.

But there will be more on my back yard tomorrow ... time for the knitting!

I've been a good girl and resisted Eve's temptations and worked steadily on the Solo Cat shawl! As a result, I've cast off the main body
She's an odd shape, but she looks beautiful when worn. She's going to look even better when she's blocked. But, she's not ready for that yet. I've still got to chart and knit the top and bottom borders.

In the mean time, here's a closer look at the edge motif
More leaves and lots of beads! Onwards and upwards!

Poor sunflower. I think we are all ready for the stinking hot days of summer to be over.

I love the beads on your shawl. They match perfectly.

I'm hating on this hot weather too. I am so over summer and ready for some sock and sweater temps.
That shawl is brilliant. I can't wait to see what comes next.

I LOVE your sunflowers. I appreciate your efforts, THey break, they fall over, they are scooped up by birds early on…they get stolen by squirrels…they require some effort
and yours paid off

Poor bunbun, looks so hot! Hope the sunflowers cope better with the heat.

Loving the shawl, can't wait to see it finished.
