Still dirty

Not afraid to get dirty
Yup - I was back at it again, this time tackling the front gardens. Well.. garden, really. The are two, but the one up against the house is pretty much just day lilies (and the fading daffodils and tulips). So I really just concentrated on the garden around the tree.
I feel like I'm being watched.
Rocky came out to supervise, and in no time, we had it done. Just a quick top up of the soil and everything went in nice and easy.
This will fill out nicely in a month or so.
Last year the colour scheme was purple and white - this year, we're all about pink.I got Cosmos, Dianthans and Peturnias, but this year I also splurged on a few perennials. I just couldn't resist these English Daisies.
Cute as a button!
Seriously - I can't look at them without smiling!

Then there was the white Campanula. It was just so full and lush, with dainty white flowers.
Too pretty!
And to be honest, I'd never seen white Campanula before - always just the purples.

I also got some Black Clover too...
Love those leaves!
I know most people think of clover and shamrocks as just weeds, but there are acutally some very pretty varieties out there, and some have lovely blooms. I'm not sure how, or even if, this one will flower... but I just loved the colours.

Once we got the front done, it was time to head out back to finish up a few jobs we didn't get to yesterday.
Rocky took up an appropriate supervisory post here too.
We reseeded part of the lawn in front of the rose bush.
Hopefully this will be nice lush grass soon
At one time, I think this a was some long-ago tenant's vegetable garden, but when we moved in it was just a giant weed patch. Last year, I cleared a space for my veggie garden, but I didn't need it all. So this year, I decided to clear out the rest of the weeds and reseed it. The stakes are to keep the lawn company from accidently mowing over it too soon.
Stand up!
I used some more stakes and twine to create a support system for the sun flowers while their stalks get stronger.

And look...
I hope it's a red one!
There's one little mini sunflower getting ready to bloom already!

And last but not least, I finally got the cat nip in it's new home.
Cat drugs!
A nice large pot I can keep on my plant stand, up out of the reach of a certain furry feline...
"You made a big mess!"
Who is currently supervising clean-up duties....

Rocky looks entirely content in your lovely garden. I love clover too.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm...could a certain kitty have a little "nip" problem? LOL

The flowers are all so pretty. I'm guessing I should get out in the back yard tomorrow and do some weeding too. :::sigh::: Why is it the weeds do well while the flowers.....not so much.

I usually don't wear glove, so my hands look the same, lol. I got half of the lawn mowed yesterday before I had to get D from cadet camp, and on the way home it started to rain, so the other half will have to wait til later in the week (rain the next two days). I also have some seeds to plant, tomato plants to transplant soon (will wait a bit yet), and I need to get some transplants for a couple of pots I have. It was soooo nice here on Saturday, and now cold, rain, cloudy, and showers all week. Grrr!

Every year you can bring in another perennial or two until you see what works. I'm all about purples this year. Sometime this week I need to get out and have a good look at what's wrong with the Junipers. If they've got whatever the pear tree had then we might be redoing the entire back garden :(
