Yep.. it's official... the last knit Christmas present is done! (I'm not counting Dave's scarf.... if it doesn't get done, it will be a Valentines gift.) I still have some art work to do, and a little sewing, but the Christmas knitting is complete!
As mentioned a few posts ago, I used some leftover Fat Cat. The colours were coal and cherry - and I think they were just perfect to make a statement with this hat.
There's no real pattern. There's just the free Deathflake 2 chart. For the hat, I used 3.5 mm needles and cast on 120 stitches (I added three stitches to the chart to space the motifs out). I worked 10 rows of 2-2 ribbing. After that I worked five rows of plain stockknit before starting the chart (repeating four times around the hat). Decreasing started one row after the chart was complete.
The result is a toque that just a little large on me, but should be perfect for the recipient, and maybe even give him a little room to grow, which is never a bad thing.
I love knitting with the Fat Cat. I've never been a huge fan of colourwork but I find the quality of the yarn makes a big difference - and the Fat Cat fits the bill perfectly!

That hat is SO cool! :-)
He's going to love it!
Definitely cool! I think I want one too; might have to add it to the queue I think, and then one of the boys will steal it once it's done.
Fantastic hat! I love it!
Really cute hat. I think the colors are perfect together too.
