Things are starting to take off in the Winter Sow jugs
The Lupins are peeking... I'm glad I got more Lupin seeds - so far the ones I planted last year haven't made a debut.
The Iceland Poppies are teeny tiny... but they are sprouting!
That tiny bit of green at the bottom is a Hollyhock. I haven't figure out where I'm going to put them yet...
All three Sunflowers are starting to sprout (this one is the Teddy Bear variety). I'm really happy about this because winter sow is not recommended for annuals - so they were a bit of a gamble.
And the Butterfly Mix is really starting to take off.
So everything is sprouting except for the Sweet Peas and Chives... but I won't count them out just yet.
And look!!!
I didn't expect to see blooms until at least Easter or later (last year first bloom was on April 22). But there's a wee little crocus about to pop.... and the funny part... I had trouble remember when I planted crocuses. It wasn't last fall... last fall I added grape hyacinths, mini daffodils and alium. I think it was the year before (or the year before that)... but this is the first year they've actually flowered!
My gardens are always full of surprises!

There is nothing better than that first crocus. Ours came and went way back in February. Now it's tulips here. I wish I had planted some.
Oh, a purple crocus! So pretty. Looks like your jugs really worked well. I was looking in the gardens last night and I noticed my tulips I planted last Fall are up. Yahoo!
Have a good day.

It's always marvelous to see things sprouting up out of the earth - and you have color now!! So glad your winter sow containers worked. You are going to be busy transplanting, that's for sure!
Crocus are one of the sweetest harbingers of Spring! Your garden is growing quite well, Miss Mary!
WHeeeeee! My winter sow buddy! Yours are ahead of mine. I have only lupine coming up. Just a few littles. But I'm happy at least that worked. Not sure ifthe hollyhock are going to sprout. Sure is fun to watch now that SOMETHING is happening in one jug.
That's awesome! It's been really fun to see the winter sow jugs producing. Such a fun and cool way of starting plants.
I was just saying today on the blog that I wish I liked gardening, because I really do love the results. It's almost sweet pea time here, and I'm waiting...
