Little things

Thank you once again for all your kind words and thoughts. We're coping, and I don't like to dwell in sorrow, so like I said when Rocky passed, you've got to focus on and enjoy the little things to get you through.

So yesterday afternoon, I dried my tears, wiped my nose and laced up my shoes to go for a walk. There was a parcel waiting for me at the post office...
I'd ordered these sandals two months ago. They took forever to arrive, but the timing couldn't have been better. And as for little things...
I didn't notice they had little stars in the centre of the flowers when I ordered them.(stars are my favourite!)  (I may have a few more pairs of shoes arriving in a few weeks... I cannot be held responsible for the things I buy when I'm grieving.)

On the way back from the post office, some very little things caught my eye...
These little crocus-like flowers were growing randomly throughout the lawn of a local church. So I picked a handful and brought them home.

And at home...
One of the turkistan tulips has bloomed.

As have the irises I planted last year...

I love these - they are such a deep dark purple.

Any day now, the lilac will pop....
And it's such a pretty lilac when it does.

And look....
Blue Girl is working on being the first rose to bloom this year.

They are very little things, but they make me smile through the gloom.

So true. Life goes on. I look at it as rewarding yourself for a job well done. It's not easy being the caregiver to aging pets-don't even get me started on aging parents.

Little things make all the difference. And I always remember that, the day after my father died, my mother told me that the world kept going - it may have been the happiest day of someone else's life, and that was OK. Because the important thing is to keep going, as none of the departed would want us to give up.

That has saved me so many times, I can't tell you. So enjoy the little things, enjoy your flower-y, starry new sandals, and remember your sweethearts and that they still love you.

Take care.
