Blooming out

A few weeks back, I noticed that one of my Hens and Chicks was doing something funny...
It suddenly seemed to be getting taller. It certainly didn't look like my other ones...
...which are popping babies out all over the place. After a conversation with Mom and quick internet search, we discovered that it was getting ready to flower!
Who knew? Sadly, it means this particular plant has come to the end of it's life. Hens and Chicks only flower once, right before they are going to die. It's such a shame, becuase the flowers are so pretty!
But I guess if you gotta go, go out with a bang!

I had no idea they flowered! And it's sad it's at the end, but as you say, what a way to go. Thanks for showing us.

It may not die. I heard that same rule about Century Plants and I've seen several that bloomed and then carried on. (I guess every RULE needs its RULE BREAKER!) Hopefully, your Hens and Chicks will be a rule breaker.

Oh, no. That's so sad. Reminds me of Charlotte's Web. I hope yours is the exception. It is a beautiful plant.

Wow, I had no idea about the flowering before dying, but yes, so beautiful!
