It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

That's right skiing sock monkey... only 18 days left. So yesterday, I decided I better get a wiggle on and decorate while Dave was at work and out of my way. I tore the house apart looking for the decorations, to no avail.

And then I suddenly remembered - we didn't decorate at all last year. I didn't even put up our little tree. Tux's surgery was coming up, work was crazy, money was tight... and we'd only moved in a few months before.  I just never got around to it, so all the decorations were still packed in a big box from moving day. But at least they were all together.
The fall wreath has been replaced with this pretty little swag I made when I was a teenager. Michaels had just come to Canada, so Mom took me up to the store and let me make something new for the front door. She gave it to me when I moved out on my own, but since we never used the front door there, it never got put up. I think it look just perfect on this door.
As I was digging through the box, I found some lights. We don't have a lot of windows on the front of the house, just the tiny bathroom window, and our bedroom windows, upstairs. But the lights were long enough to add a little cheer.
Christmas lights are another thing we've never put up before. Now I really want to get some for the bedroom windows!

Inside, the tree is up
It's only a couple feet tall - but it fits just perfectly on the TV, which makes it perfect for us.
It also provided me the perfect place to hang the potholder Araignee sent me last year.
It was far too pretty to use with dirty pots, so now it has pride of place on the wall. I just love it!
Dave's mother gave me this handsome guy a few years after Dave and I started dating. I adore him, but I've never had anywhere to properly display him. But now - Grandma's table has solved that! I don't dare light the candles though.... as much as I want to. But I fear I'll never find new ones!
Likewise, this rolly polar bear was a gift from Dave's aunt. I think he needs a belly full of candy canes... don't you?

How is your decorating going?

It's fun adding Christmas decorations around the holidays. Where did you get your skiing sock monkey block calendar?

Love the bear bowl. If not candy canes then Lindor chocolates. I have some "leftovers" after filling my Advent Calendar, but Gavin says there's no such thing as "leftover chocolates"!!!

It's on-going as we "speak". The outside lights are up and now Steve is putting lights on the inside tree.

We have the tree up, but that's it

Daddio would be thrilled to see his little creation on your blog! He's not really able to do any piecing work anymore but he's cutting things out for me like crazy. I've got to get my camera over there so I can do a post on it.
Love the decor. Mine's still in the attic for the most part. Seeing your advent monkey scared the beejeezus out of me. I better get moving!

It looks so festive. Isn't it fun to get out some decorative items that bring back great memories?? I've started decorating, but have a bit more to do.
