Off the rails

I've got three projects left to knit for Christmas. I've got miles and miles of squares to sew up on my blanket. I've got some sewing to do for the big day, as well as some drawing... but I'm not doing any of it....

After getting Elm Street together, I realized that I haven't had a sock on the needles since then... and that was  September 27th...!! Two-and-a-half months! I think I managed to keep the sock-itch at bay by knitting all those sock yarn squares.... but this weekend,I caved.
I started a new man-sock design in some absolutely delicious Alley Cat I dyed up ages ago. The colour is "Dark Chocolate". I'd intended to make myself some lace socks with it, but never got around to it. It's been sitting on my work table, taunting me for a while now.

I started out just making a simple but sturdy garter ribbed sock, but that was to bland for this rich yarn and it wanted to be something more. We went back and forth and finally agreed on dress sock with an elegant and classic diamond pattern - this colour is definitely deserving of the finer things...

So, while I should be focused on my Christmas goals, I've been seduced by something dark and sweet... but if I get it done before Christmas - it will be a Christmas present too - so that's okay, right?

And don't forget about the contest to win an Elm Street kit - scroll down to the next post and leave your comment!

I love that pattern. Nothing is more boring than man socks but that looks like it could actually be quite interesting.
