Fluffy sprout

A few weeks back, a representative from Yarn Canada sent me an email, asking if I'd like to try out some of their Bernat Baby Blanket Stripes yarn. I took a look at the swatches she sent and thought... why not? It would be a good yarn for a baby blanket for the Ancaster Fair.

Last week, three balls arrived
The colour I chose was sprout
Two shades of soft green mixed with a little grey and white.
I settled on a simple feather and fan, and got a few rows done before I decided I really need a better needles. The largest I have is a 6mm, and the yarn calls for an 8mm. It's not terrible on the 6, but I think the pattern would show much better on the 8 - right now it's just a bunch of lumpy yarn spaghetti. not to mention, a looser tension will be much easier on my hands!

So, an 8mm is on the way... and I'm really looking forward to watching those stripes stack up!

If you'd like to get your hands on some of this  yarn you can find it at yarncanada.ca.  I've ordered yarn from them a few times - shipping is reasonable ($5 flat rate or free over $45), and it's always quick!

Pretty colors in that yarn. Should make up a nice baby blanket. Is it really soft?

After working on your socks, this will be a big difference! I think it will make a great blanket, though! Nice of you to agree to try out the yarn for them!

I've see in blankets made with a similar yarn: they were pretty and so SOFT! I agree that a bigger needle will work better and be easier on your hands, too.

That will make a nice neutral-gender blanket.

It looks very soft and squishy but I find big knitting needles awkward to work with. Now crochet hooks are a whole other thing.....absolutely love chunky monkey crochet hooks!! :-)
