In the thick of it

With Mother's Day under our belt (I brought Mom some quilting fabric, homemade eggrolls, and spent a couple hours with her), I realized I had to get moving on my Father's Day present if I wanted to have it done in time.
Dad loves his thick socks, so it's always easy to knit up a pair for him. This is from the batch of yarn I bought earlier this year.  This particular colourway is 'Owl'. The yarn is VERY soft, though it doesn't have any nylon (the yarn I'm using for cuffs, heels, and toes does though), so they might not wear as well, but Dad mostly wears them as house socks.

They are DK weight, so not quite as thick as the other pairs I've done, but still thick enough to knit up fast and be nice and cozy!

Perfect man socks!

Back in the day, sock yarn came with a little spool of matching nylon thread that you knit into the heel and toe for reinforcement. I wonder why they stopped selling that. Or did they? I'll have to do some homework on that.

Yup on to Fathers Day! I teased someone at the barn today who wanted to me to give up the broom so he could take over. I said, NOPE, Mothers day is over. On with fathers day and you can rest this time!. Good yarn choice colors for a guy!

I love the colorway for a guy-very nice. I think the dk will work up quickly and be more enjoyable to knit.
