Yeah... that yarn for the braid that was suppose to untwist....
This is what's left of it.
I got about 1/3 of the way through the second row... and I think it was untwisting... but it was just too hard to work with. So I gave up on the pretty little braid and ripped back. My shawl will be braidless (because there's a total of 3 braids on the shawl - and if I have that much trouble with the first one...)
I've got the first two rows of lace done and I think the transition is going to be just fine...
Plain. Simple. Beautiful. (and no twisting!)

Uh oh.....nice recovery though!
I was skimming through the FOs for this shawl and lots of people hated the braids. I cannot see them very well in the FO projects (so either they don't show up very well in the knit or the people don't have great and/or closeup pictures to show them off). My mantra -- don't knit it if you hate it. Knitting is supposed to be fun (relatively) so knit what you enjoy and too bad about the braids. :)
I'm sure that lovely yarn doesn't need braids to showcase its beauty!
Yikes...I don't blame you for coming up with an alternative plan. I bet you'll like it.
I am all for the path of least resistance. You had me in an earlier post when you admitted despite the logic, you don't always read through a pattern or check gauge -- swoon. My hero. Your shawl will turn out awesome, I'm not worried for ya.
Oh no, that's a shame. I did that braid thing once at the Knitters Guild, even when it works I still think it was a PITA. Boo! And I wanted to knit that pattern ... didn't realize that was part of it!
What a gorgeous color! WOW!
