...has arrived for the week. I'm sure I'll have a post or two about their shenanigans, but in the mean time, I thought I'd answer a few questions/comments that have come up on the blog.
First, KathyB asked if my Milkweed was bringing any butterflies to the yard.
Sadly, the answer is no... or at least no more than usual. There's always a White Cabbage butterfly or two in the yard - but no monarchs. In fact, I haven't seen a Monarch anywhere this year. The only thing that really seems to like the Milkweed are the ants. There's always one or two on each plant.
RobinH commented that it's been all Rupert and no Peno lately, and asked how the old girl was doing. She's doing fabulous.
... and despite how it may look in this picture... she's completely warmed up to little Ru. Every night they have a little play session - a little chasing and brief wrestling match. She's not afraid to give him a sound thumping when he gets too pushy. It's not uncommon to walk in on this...
or this...
Orthis...
And lastly, thank you for all the lovely comments about my hair.
I personally don't think there should be an age limit on having some fun with your hair - so for all of you contemplating it, I say go for it! I'm 36, so I'm not exactly a spring chicken, but whether you're 16, 56 or 86 - it's all good! However, some things I've learned from my experiences:
- While semi-permanents do wash out... it's been my experience that they never wash out completely. With these bold colours, there seems to be some residual staining for quite a while. If you get sick of it, you may need to dye your hair back to its normal colour.
- If you've got dark hair like me, you need to bleach your hair first to get the colour to show. Bleaching is very damaging, so invest in a good moisturizing conditioner/hair mask.
- Remember when the colour does wash out, you're left with bleached hair. My options when I get bored with this are to dye it back to my original colour (tricky because bleached hair doesn't take dye well sometimes), bleach everything so it all matches, or chop it all off.
- If you're already blonde, you don't have to bleach - but keep in mind, if your hair isn't super light, the colour won't be as vibrant.
- If you've got white/gray hair... colour doesn't always take as well so it may not last as long.

Have fun with the kiddos! I'm sure Gem will LOVE having some play time.
Look at those kitties snuggle. That's amazing after such a short period of time!
Those cuddling kitties are melting my heart. So cute and you don't look a day older than 20!!!!!
Aw! Ru and Peno look so sweet. Thanks for posting pics!
