FO: Cat mat

Yesterday was your lot for knitting this week. Now back to the quilting...

Saturday saw me finish up Relic's cat mat.
And I couldn't be more pleased with it. It's nothing crazy - just 3 inch squares and HSTs assembled to form a paw print. I bought the fabric specially for it, but I think it would be fun with scraps too.

I used the cheaper polyester batting and stitched in the ditch along each square to give it some extra poof.
The back was part of the second chunk of Holly Hobby fabric, and I hope that helps to ward off the chill from the cold tiles.  I do need to put some sort of gripper on the back, because we keep waking up in the morning and finding it halfway across the house!

It's been a hit with ALL the cats, not just Relic.  Though I haven't been able to get a shot of Rupert on it yet.

What a cute mat. You may have to make one for all of them. LOL

Great Idea. My cats would probably love a cat mat. I have a knitted mat that i'm saving... I don't know why. Perhaps I'll give it to the cats for Valentines day.

That turned out so cute!! I bet he likes to just drag it wherever he wants to go to take a little snooze. Nice job!

We use small pieces of rug gripper to keep cat beds and stuff in place.

Great job! I always love when the cats actually appreciate something we make for them <3 (Rather than trying to steal things that aren't theirs or turning their nose up at what IS theirs unless it's doused in catnip!)

What an awesome cat mat! I love the fabric, and love seeing the cats in action with it. Is that someone's pet rabbit toy? I can't have pets, maybe I should get one of those too! Waiting for Ru's pic. hehe. Also, that rug gripper stuff is great that Eastside Cats described, you don't have to affix anything to your pretty project, but maybe you already know this? Sorry. Just trying to be helpful, not annoying!

That's a great idea. No matter how many cat beds I buy they always just want to sit on whatever project I am working on. I should just give up and make them a quilt of their own too.
