Friday Felines

Despite the fact that Relic has officially been part of the household for more than three months, relations are still tense between these two.
They will occupy the same space well enough, as long as they don't make eye contact.

But Rupert is the most jealous cat I've ever met - as soon as you pet Relic, Rupert has to get right in there for his pet too, and the next thing you know, one or the other is upset.

It's nothing terrible - a small yowl or grumpy protest, occasionally a swat from from one or the other.

It's definitely better than when we first brought Relic in, but I figured they'd be friends by now. And if not, at least disinterested the way Relic and Peno are. But Rupert is still determined to show his displeasure with the interloper. At least it's only with catty comments, and not bodily fluids!

Well, you know how brothers can be. LOL

Maybe when they are little old men they will appreciate each other.

I can't believe they get along as well as they do. My male cats try to kill each other on a regular basis.

They have to one-up each other!! And, yes, I think they are getting along very well all things considered.

Cooper is our jealous, won't make friends with the new dog one. iNDy is just an old dog who welcomes all.

THey will work it out in time with love and catnip !!! WE say PIE gives the stink eye when she sees us snuggle another cat in the house!

Someone told me that they used a catnip-infused calming collar on the most aggressive cat, and it made all of the difference! The Hubby isn't interested in putting something smelly on any of our cats; he's barely tolerating the Feliway plug-ins. Thought I'd pass that along, in case it might be something you'd be interested in.

Cats can take instant dislikes, just like people! lol
At least they are not in complete bodily wars!
Catnip truce sessions might be helpful, too.
