As mentioned, Cecil came home mid-week. Samantha says he's doing very well, though he's not happy about being confined to his crate for the next few days (he is allowed supervised excursions for snuggles - just no roughhousing or regular kitten antics)
When he first went in, they thought it was just a sponge he'd eaten, and the enemas should have been enough to clear all that out. But the xray showed a mystery mass, and he was rapidly declining, hence the surgery.
This is the poor boy's battle scar - though Sam says it's healing nicely.
And this is what the problem was - a piece of hard, clear plastic about the size of a quarter. We have no idea where is came from or what possessed Cecil to eat it! But it definitely wasn't coming out with an enema. Surgery was the only option.
Spending money like that on a pet is always a difficult decision and I couldn't have faulted her if they'd decided to go the other way.
She sent me the picture this picture the other day...
With the caption "I think we made the right decision"
I couldn't agree more.
Though there is still a long way to go to cover his bill, so don't forget - my patterns are still on sale until the end of September:

Please spread the word. And thank you!

He looks like such a sweet kitty! That is such a scary story though. Daughter's little gray cat eats things like that. You have to keep everything plastic locked up. She especially enjoys plastic grocery bags. Of course Herbie cost me a small fortune when he ate the wool that time. Darn weird cats...
What a happy ending to a very tough circumstance!
No more plastic horderves, silly kitty!
Ohhhh. Very sweet ending. Such a surprise middle. Where did he get that plastic thing? DOes he think he's a puppy? My cats are pretty good about everything BUT yarn
I could not BELIEVE when Giroux ate an elastic band. Kitties .....!
Glad to hear that Samantha's kitty is on the mend.
So glad he's better. I know all to well how those Vet bills can mount up...we're still struggling with Reba's whole eye ordeal. It's been a month and she's still going through various procedures. They are now putting contacts over her eye at a $100 dollars a piece. We are well into the two thousand dollar range now. But she's worth every penny though and we can't wait for to be healed.
Obviously, spending the cash was worth it, but what the heck was that plastic thingy? When Chucky ate that homemade rope toy, we almost had to do surgery, but he was able to 'pass' it. The scare we had then still rattles in my bones.
