Gimme a little sun

Despite the snow we had over Easter, the gardens are trying their best to put on their spring show...
There a lot of wee things sprouting in the front garden. That tall one, I believe, is one of the Turkistan Tulips that surprised me last year.

But I was starting to lament about the tree garden. While the violas and dianthans I planted last year are greening up, there was no sign of the spring snowflake or tulips I planted in the fall. There'd been quite a few signs that the squirrels had gotten a few bulbs, but with no signs of life, I was starting to think they gotten them all.

But I took another peek on the weekend...
A little yellow/green sprout that I'm hoping against hope is a snowflake...
And another little sprout that should be one of my Queen of the Night tulips. Fingers crossed!

There's no sign of the garlic in the back yard... well other than a bulb with a big bite mark that some poor squirrel abandoned - must not have been too tasty. But I really think we need some warmer weather before I can write them off completely. Tux agrees...
Too bad they are calling for freezing rain tonight....

Looks like Tux is happy to be out for a little stroll in the garden.

Spring has sprung regardless of the temps. It won't be long now!

I see tiny buds on the trees here, but that's it so far, not much sun, very grey. We had some much needed excavation work done last fall and I had primroses in the front, all gone now :o( Will have to get some more, I always enjoyed seeing those pop up every year and they were getting bigger and bigger (even though I think they are technically annuals).

Queen of the Night is one of my favorite tulips- especially among the white ones.

So dramatic.

Tux looks like he's getting a little impatient with the weather too. It's good to see the sprouts!
