FO: Family slippers

The other week when we were on our road trip to Port Dover, Mom mentioned that Dad had been bugging her to make him some slippers.

She's involved with her quilting right now, and hasn't been doing much knitting. And I've been looking for a good way to say thank-you to Dad for helping me get Relic neutered and prepared for life as a house cat.

So...
The pattern I used is Family Slippers, a slightly updated take on the old classic. It's super simple, great for beginners, and mindless for more advanced knitters. They don't look very big, but they have a lot of stretch (needed for a good fit), and I had Dave try them on so I know they will be just fine.
The pattern calls for worsted, but doubled. I hate working  with doubled yarn (I always end up missing strands, and have to tink), so I went up to a chunky. I didn't have anything suitable in the stash, so I had to grab some Patons Classic Yarn (bulky version). In retrospect, I probably should have gone with something more washable for convenience. But Dad knows how to take care of handknits, so it won't be too bad.
And did you notice those pompoms??? First time I haven't had to contract out pompom making to Mom, thanks to purchasing her recommended pompom maker. Dad's not actually much of a pompom guy, but I just couldn't resist the opportunity to make some. He can always cut them off if he wants!

Handmade slipper are the best, so warm and cozy!!! I am sad to say since I discovered Crocs I am very lazy about getting out all my knit slippers. I used to live in my Phentex Pantoufles that a Canadian friend gifted me. They are the best things ever.

Adorable! I need to make some slippers like that to conform to my feet. My store bought ones leave me cold!
